Atherosclerosis, once thought to be a degenerative disorder, is a progressive narrowing of the arteries throughout the body, which is fed by rich diets, high in cholesterol and fats and aggravated by smoking and high blood pressure. Cholesterol, fats and other materials accumulate in the arterial wall forming plaques, which in due time can disrupt and interrupt vital blood flow.

It may come as a surprise but there simply are not any symptoms or signs of trouble until a person's arteries are about 80 percent closed. A survey found that 24 percent of heart attack victims suffered sudden death on account of atherosclerosis. The disease begins to develop in the childhood. Most of the attacks occur before the age of 65 years.

Arthritis has been the oldest forms of diseases affecting the human population. But still no effective results have been obtained about arthritis treatment. Alternative medicines have been claiming to cure arthritis. Is it possible for someone with severe arthritis who needed two people to help her even to stand, to be able to walk independently. Or the lady with advanced arthritis, who held on to a support to stand and pain- fully hobble a few steps, to once again walk normally and free of pain? Or one who had severely deformed knees and was barely able to take a few steps, holding onto a railing, to once more start walking normally?

Partial or total replacement is now well-established as an extremely successful method of removing the entire worn cartilage and re-surfacing the bone ends with new lining surfaces (one is made of special metal and the other surface of special polyethylene). In the knee joint, for example, if only one half of the knee is arthritic (typically the inner or medial compartment) then only that half can be successfully replaced. This is called Unicompartmental Knee Replacement.
